Comment: I am sorry I do not like to write less than positive reviews but this item is one I can not endorse. 2 Stars for the innovative idea but the technology is not quite there yet. I don't want to say butter 3 times and have a list of choices come up sometimes w butter sometimes without....I gave as a gift and it was given back to me to return.

Summary: Very handy, and fun, too!
Comment: I bought this for my wife for Christmas, and she loves it! It has a great library of shopping items, and has always recognized what is recorded. It then prints the shopping list according to category, so that we are not wandering all over the store to fill the list. A real time saver. On the down side, it appears that the instruction sheet that comes with the unit has not been updated for the current model, and I had to send an email to technical support about what I thought was a problem. It turned out that what the unit was doing was normal, but it was not listed in the manual anywhere. Overall, this is a great time saver, a good tool, and lots of fun to use!

Summary: I received a lemon!
Comment: The unit is defective and will not power off. There is no on/off switch and the manual states that the unit will shut itself off after 5 seconds of inactivity. Never happened. Batteries were dead in a few days.
There is no policy to return it for a replacement so we are sending it back for a refund.

Nuance's SmartShopper is an automated grocery list assistant. Using Nuance's state-of-the-art voice recognition technology, you simply press a button on the unit and speak the name of a grocery item you will need on your next shopping trip. A large LCD Screen shows the items that have been input into the unit, in alphabetical order. Then, when you are ready to shop, print out a list with the built-in thermal printer. The SmartShopper comes with a strong magnet which allows you to keep it on the refrigerator door. It can also easily be wall mounted, or just store it in a drawer. The SmartShopper is made out of a durable, hard plastic with a brushed aluminum front that will make a great impression in any kitchen.
