Summary: I really like the girl.........
Comment: ....derned if I know why. She isn't my usual style, but Style is one thing she sure has. Maybe that's what I like...she isn't afraid to be strong, and "out there". Nothing subtle about Pink. Though, when she does turn wistful, she can be haunting. She's pretty, in a rough sort of way, and she has a fantastic voice...you can understand every word; here, that will be a problem for some, as the "explicit" warning means it.
Cynical. That's the word I'm thinking. The recent "Funhouse" came out of Pink's rather public divorce...this apparently emerged from her private pain as things were going to hell...her mind was messed-up, and this album is the result. Sad for her. Happy for fans of great music.
No sex discrimination here: "Stupid Girls" sometimes are, and make really dumb choices [was Alecea looking in a mirror?]. "U + Ur Hand"...yeah, sometimes jerk guys get what they deserve. "'Cuz I Can"...an ode to self indulgence, to hell with you. "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)"...conflicted self indulgence. I don't need you. Do I?? "I've Got Money Now"...purely cynical about the world. I don't need you. Really. "Conversations With My Thirteen Year Old Self"....she'd like to talk to the little girl she used to be, maybe keep her from making stupid mistakes, but she can't. Wistful, indeed.
I could have done without the liberal bilge of "Dear Mr. President"...it is the President's job to protect us from foreign enemies, not to fix everything...he's supposed to stay out of our way so we can fix it. HOWEVER, for the last [unlisted] track, I forgive her..."I Have Seen The Rain", a duet with her Dad Jimmy, of a song written by him. Mr. Moore [the obvious source of Pink's talent] and little Alecea used to sing it at gatherings of his fellow Viet Nam Vets. Wonderful...she dedicates it to the Vets in a spoken intro. Attack the President if you wish, but honor the Vet. Right balance. Good Girl.
I really like Pink, and this record. Not for really young kids, unless you want them picking up words they'll use all-too-soon, anyway. The girl has a tough class and style that is engaging. And a great voice. As usual, fine production and art work, though there is a bikini shot in the booklet that I should have like to see on the cover. All in all, six stars. Enjoy.

Comment: I bought this CD for the song "Dear Mr. President"! The whole CD is really great, but my favorite is of course Dear Mr. President, this is a very powerful song!!

Comment: Vocal Powerhouse Pink has given us a set of good songs: including "Stupid Girls", "Who Knew" and "Dear Mr President" which features The Indio Girls. Pink has become vocal about the 2008 Presidential race - Interestingly, in the 2008 Presidential Primary race, New York Senator Hillary Clinton earned more Votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in American history (hillaryclintonforum, the denver group)

Summary: I'm Not Dead - by Pink
Comment: I purchased the CD because I love the song "Who Knew." There are a few other good songs on the CD, but I especially like the last cut. It's an acoustic guitar version of a song that she performs with a dad. Full of harmony. Beautiful.
I also received it right on time.
The only concern I have - and this is not about the CD per se, is that whenever I order CDs on line by Amazon, I get numerous e-mails written in other languages, other alphabets, some of which contain potential viruses.

Summary: Ok ... guilty pleasure.
Comment: Pink is the type of artist I normally would buy but I got hooked off the radio. Unlike other pop albums, I was pleased to find out this wasn't a few good tunes and a bunch of filler. Each song is decent to good.
