Summary: Marry Christmas
Comment: Gave this as a gift. The only thing I didn't like was that it did not come packaged. I had to find a box to put the cheeses in.

Summary: warn people what is in the cheese
Comment: They should specify what kind of milk is being used- as goat and sheep milk cheeses tend to be much stronger in taste

Summary: Excellent Assortment of German Cheeses
Comment: This combination is fabulous, from the smoky Bruder Basil to the creamy blue there is something for everyone. While I was not crazy about the Emmentaler or the ButterKase there were guests at my little soiree that couldn't get enough of it. It was a great assortment at an affordable price.

Editorial Reviews:

To help you celebrate Oktoberfest, we offer you this wonderful assortment of four of our favorite German cheeses.
  • Allgau Emmentaler, commonly referred to as Bavarian Swiss, is arguably the most famous cheese made in Germany. Made from pure Bavarian milk, it is high in protein and has that familiar yet special flavor.
  • Bruder Basil is made in the tradition of Rauchkase, a smoked cheese typical of the region. Named after a man, not an herb, this specialty was originally produced by Trappist Monks in the abbey of Rotthalmunster. It is smoked over select beechwood embers, a process that lends Bruder Basil its unique flavor.
  • Butterkase is Germany's best-selling cheese. Creamy and smooth, Butterkase is similar to Havarti in texture, but has a slight pungency not found in it's Danish counterpart.
  • Paladin Bavarian Blue is a tangy, crumbly blue cheese produced in the Bavarian Alpine countryside. Extremely versatile, youll love it in salad, as part of a recipe, or on a cracker.
You will receive a half-pound cut of each of these cheeses, so grab a selection of your favorite German beers and celebrate this occasion in the time honored tradition.
