Summary: The Prelude To SummerSlam
Comment: When WWF realized Fully Loaded in 1998, this was more concentrated on setting up future storylines that would continue into the next month's mega event, SummerSlam. That with standing, WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin & Undertaker were forced to team up before going down their "Highway To Hell" to SummerSlam but this one should be more remembered for two men stealing the show to eventually doing it again at SummerSlam.
Val Venis vs Jeff Jarrett. This was during the time that Venis seemed to be on his way to receiving a push in the WWF (whatever happened there) so this match was a way to get Val over. Both are underrated wrestlers & they put forth a great effort to open the show.
D'Lo Brown vs X-Pac. D'Lo had just won the European title from Triple H thanks to The Rock the week before on RAW & despite D'Lo's funny speeches before & after the match, this was not a title match. I am not X-Pac's biggest fan but these two always meshed well together & put on a great match that was topped by their latter performances in the year.
Faarooq & Scorpio vs Terry Funk & Bradshaw. This was random contest that had no build up or reason for the crowd to care. Scorpio was completely underrated & this match shows a bit of that but the real highlight here was the beginning of the heel turn for a young man that soon became known as J.B.L.
Mark Henry vs Vader. I will never understand why Vince pushes Henry; I honestly don't think that he is very talented. This was a bad match as it was very slow & lacked impact. Plus, it is a shame seeing Vader having to job every time on PPV.
D.O.A. vs L.O.D. 2000. Again, another boring match that I did not understand why this feud was continuing when the only watchable match these two teams had was at Over The Edge (and that was not even that good either).
Dungeon Match: Owen Hart vs Ken Shamrock w/Guest Referee Dan Severn. This was an interesting contest as they are competing in Owen's house in the world famous "Dungeon" where Stu Hart has trained some of the best wrestlers in the world for years. This was a great technical wrestling match with some nice submissions applied but the highlight was the funny ending of how Owen won the match setting up their Lions Den match at SummerSlam (Of Course, Owen won, it was in his house).
Two Out Of Three Falls: Intercontinental Champion The Rock vs Triple H. This was the match of the night & a lost classic encounter that would be topped in their more famous Ladder match a month later at SummerSlam. They went 30 minutes in the ring & put on a great wrestling match with cameo interferences from both The Nation & DX. The ending might disappoint some but I forgave it because again, it lead to their classic Ladder match a month later that topped this one. Still, awesome match & again match of the night.
WWF Tag Team Champions Kane & Mankind vs Stone Cold Steve Austin & The Undertaker. This is the only time that I remember that the Tag Team titles was the main event match at PPV (Not including the three titles on the line matches). This was a good main event but this was more about putting over the storylines if anything else which were: Could Austin & Taker work together for one night or is Undertaker really teaming up with Kane. Again, a good match but the whole story & ending was to push the storylines into SummerSlam which was illustrated with Taker walking away with the titles at the end, instead of giving one to Austin after the match.
Overall, this was one of those events that really only had two bad matches that are easily forgettable & skip material but the rest of the card is good enough to sit down & enjoy. I would recommend this event for the Rock/HHH match alone but that match is available on the new I.C. Title DVD. Still, this event is worth seeing at a cheap price.

Good watchable match that had it's high points. Venis wins. **3/4
D'Lo Brown V. X-Pac
This two all always solid in the ring against each other and this one is no exception. Good match with D'Lo going over. ***1/4
Scorpio & Faarooq V. Terry Funk & Bradshaw
ok match that had Scorpio & Funk doing some old ECW stuff. Scorpio & Faarooq win. **
Vader V. Mark Henry
What's with the Henry push? He beats a former World Champion in Vader and then beats the Rock in October. I really don't know what Vince sees in the guy. I think he is a useless talent. 1/2*
LOD 2000 V. DOA
This is like the 900th time these two teams had met and every single match sucked and this one sucks also. DOA win. *
Dungeon Match:
Ken Shameock V. Owen Hart
Awesome. The Dungeon is tiny and not many people knew that before this match. Very solid wrestling with a very good ending. Owen wins, ***3/4...or course Owen is going to win, it is in his own house
2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship:
The Rock (Champion) V. Triple H
This match could have been better if the first fall came a little earier and didn't have a godamn time limit! Why would it have a time limit is behind me. So you guessed it...it ends in a time limit draw. ***3/4
WWF Tag Team Championship:
Kane & Mankind (Champions) V. Stone Cold Steve Austin & Underaker
Why isn't the WWF Championship on the line? It would have been cool. Anyways we get a good Tag Team Match that really wasn't anything special but was solid. Austin & Undie win the titles. ***1/2
Overall a godd show that had the only Dungeon Match and a bikini contest that everyone seems to remember more than the main event. I don't blame them.

WWF Fully Loaded 1998 was a good PPV. Worth buying, and it is better than Summerslam 98. 8/10
